Radical Self-Love: A Post-Valentine's Reminder

Writer: Alice RankerAlice Ranker

Valentine’s Day was earlier this week, and whether you were showered with roses or scrolled past all the couple posts on Instagram, let’s take a moment to shift the focus—to you.

Because love isn’t just about romance. It’s about how you show up for yourself every single day. Did you speak kindly to yourself this week? Did you take a breath when you needed one? Did you remind yourself that you are worthy, not because of how others see you, but simply because you are?

Radical self-love isn’t about waiting for someone else to celebrate you. It’s buying yourself the flowers (yes, even after the Valentine’s sales are over). It’s honoring your needs without apology. It’s knowing that you are already whole, with or without a grand romantic gesture.

So, let’s keep the self-love energy going. Plan a solo coffee date. Wear the outfit that makes you feel amazing. Take up space in your own life. Love isn’t just a one-day event—it’s something you get to give yourself every single day.

Last weekend when I was at the retreat (I shared about this in last week's blog) we practiced meditation. The guided meditations focused on self-love, self-awareness, and self-compassion. In my journal I wrote down several things Carly (our meditation coach) shared that I didn't want to forget. One thing I wrote down was, "Focus on all the places where love is natural and bathe in that." How profound. Pause and allow yourself a moment to ponder that thought. Where is that for you?

In another guided meditation she led us to put on a 'blanket of love'. Afterwards we went around the room and listened to each lady describe their blanket. I found that so fascinating that each of us could hear the same thing but visualize something completely different. Remember this as you practice self-love, it may and often does look different from one person to the next. Give yourself permission to do and be exactly what you need when you need it without apologies.

Have the most beautiful week. ❤️

Much love,
